BWDA2000 - A SHORT HISTORY
The
British Western Dance Association was formed in 1989 as an organisation
dedicated to providing information to the growing numbers of dancers
who wanted to leam "American Line-Dancing".The emphasis gradually
changed from being dancer orientated to become Britain's leading Instructor
Training organisation. Many of to-days best known instructors and choreographers
did their initial training with the BWDA, as it quickly became known.
In
January 2000 the control of the organisation was handed over to a management
committee who eventually assumed responsibility for all BWDA activities
. This committee decided that to mark this "new beginning"
and to recognise the new millennium, the BWDA would now be known as
BWDA2000.
The
following months were to be the most turbulent in the organisations
history and the result was split with a group from the new management
committee forming a new organisation with a different name but with
similar initials.
BWDA2000
is now run by Ron & Sheila Penn, with invaluable support from many
experienced and knowledgeable instructors who collectively wish to maintain
